John Wayne House

A Southern California horse and cattle ranch owned by legendary actor John Wayne back in the 1970s has once again popped up for sale. Sited in the small agricultural community of Sage, just south of the city of Hemet, the 2,000-acre spread is asking $12 million; and that includes 10 parcels of land holding a stucco house, plus a barn, three wells and Native American artifacts sprinkled throughout the land.

Known as Rancho Pavoreal (Peacock Ranch), the rambling property rests near the foothills of Palomar Mountain, just minutes from Temecula Wine Country, and is showcased by a three-bedroom, three-bath house with 3,000 square feet of single-level living space offering up sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.
